The Fok Ying Tung Foundation was established for these very purposes. Through the Foundation, DrFok has donated more than HK $6 billion in different programs to support regional development and the Reform, especially in the areas of education, healthcare, sports, science and cultural.
In the early 1980s, Dr. Fok recognized the strategic location of Nansha at the geographic center of the Pearl River Delta, its potential to become a modern city to connect Hong Kong and the Mainland, and a platform to further build the economy of Guangdong, particularly the west bank of Pearl River. In 1984, DrFok, through Fok Ying Tung Foundation, began to participate in the construction and development of Nansha.
